The Mont Aigoual site is the last mountain weather station in France (maximum altitude 1,567 m) and a Météo France observation and forecasting station.

The Mont Aigoual weather observatory stands on the borders of the Gard and Lozère departments and on the Atlantic/Mediterranean watershed. Daily work consists of continuous weather observation and drawing up detailed forecasts for the mountain range. The weather station also handles climatology going back for over a century. For some years now, the Mont Aigoual weather station has orientated its activities towards experiments in natural surroundings. External organisations can draw on the technical and personnel potential of the site to carry out tests in extreme weather conditions.
