The ridges and valley of Le Coudoulous
2 points of interest

Le Faucon Pélerin - Descamps Régis
FaunaThe peregrine falcon
Given that it nests nearby, you might be lucky enough to observe a peregrine falcon. This is the most powerful and, above all, the fastest of the falcons in the Cévennes National Park. Grey in colour, the adult has a wingspan of about one metre for females, more than that for males. Its wings are angular, wide and pointed, and a black mask covers its cheeks.

Arphy et les traversiers - N. Thomas
HistoryArphy
A long municipality in a narrow vale framed by two lines of ridges...
The Coudoulous, the main tributary of the Arre, has sculpted this granite landscape, whose stones were used as much to build the crop terrace walls as the mas (isolated farms) and hamlets all along the river. The valley bottom is rich with alluvial sediment, making farming important : irrigated orchards, crop terraces, gardens. On the ridges, paths follow the tracks made by sheep mgrating to and from their summer pastures.
